राज्य चौकसी ब्यूरो गुड़गांव की टीम ने रिश्वत लेने के आरोप में दिल्ली पुलिस के एक सिपाही को उसके साथी सहित गिरफ्तार किया है। इनके पास से साढ़े आठ लाख रुपये भी बरामद हुई है। वहीं इस मामले में दो अन्य आरोपी गुड़गांव पुलिस के स्पेशल स्टाफ (सेक्टर दस) के एएसआइ व हवलदार अभी फरार है। पुलिस आयुक्त आलोक मित्तल के निर्देश पर दोनों पुलिस कर्मियों को तुरंत प्रभाव से लाइन हाजिर कर उनके खिलाफ विभागीय जांच बैठा दी गई है। राज्य चौकसी ब्यूरो (गुड़गांव) के एसएसपी योगेंद्र नेहरा को मटियाला (दिल्ली) निवासी जहीर ने मंगलवार रात गुड़गांव स्पेशल स्टाफ में तैनात एएसआइ विनोद व हवलदार राजकपूर के खिलाफ शिकायत दी थी। शिकायत में उसने कहा था कि उनका बेटा इस्लामुद्दीन (25) द्वारका (दिल्ली) में कबाड़ी का काम करता है। 20 जुलाई को एएसआइ विनोद व हवलदार राजकपूर उसे जबरन अपनी में ले गए थे। चार घंटे बाद द्वारका में ही कबाड़ का काम करने वाला सरफराज व दिल्ली पुलिस का सिपाही सूबे सिंह (तैनाती हौज खास थाना, पीसीआर) निवासी सरहौल (गुड़गांव) उसके पास आए। दोनों ने कहा कि एएसआइ व हवलदार इस्लामुद्दीन को छोड़ने के एवज में दस लाख की रिश्वत मांग रहे हैं। मना करने पर वो इस्लामुद्दीन को झूठे मामले में फंसा देंगे। उसने एक रिश्तेदार से पांच लाख रुपये लेकर सूबे सिंह को दिए, लेकिन उन्होंने उसके बेटे को नहीं छोड़ा तो उसने साढ़े तीन लाख रुपये और दिए। इसके बावजूद जब उन्होंने उसके बेटे को नहीं छोड़ा और मंगलवार को डकैती का माल खरीदने के झूठे आरोप में जेल भेज दिया। एसएसपी योगेंद्र नेहरा ने बताया कि शिकायत मिलते ही इंस्पेक्टर जगत सिंह की अगुवाई में टीम गठित कर ड्यूटी मजिस्ट्रेट कुलवंत सिंह की मौजूदगी में छापेमारी कर सूबे सिंह के पास से पांच लाख और सरफराज के पास से साढ़े तीन लाख रुपये बरामद कर दोनों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया। हालांकि विनोद व राजकपूर भी उनसे रुपये लेने आने वाले थे, लेकिन सूबे सिंह के पकड़े जाने की भनक मिलते ही फरार हो गए। courtsy- dainik jagran.

A woman police sub-inspector was especially deployed to interact with the girls. The students were curious about the functioning of the firearms and asked about the requirements for joining the police force, its duties and human rights. P M Sarvaiya, inspector of Navrangpura police station, said that the city police officials are reaching out to the school and college students to create awareness about the police's work and how citizens can be helpful in maintaining law and order. "Suraksha Setu is an initiative where we try to bridge the gap between the police and the public. नई दिल्ली।। दिल्ली पुलिस के इतिहास में पहली बार ऐसा होगा जब कोई महिला आईपीएस कमिश्नर के बाद नंबर-2 यानी स्पेशल कमिश्नर (प्रशासन) का पदभार संभालेंगी। अभी तक इन दोनों पदों पर कोई भी महिला अफसर नहीं पहुंच सकी हैं। गोल्फ-2 की इस कुर्सी पर बैठने वाली महिला तिहाड़ जेल की डीजी विमला मेहरा होंगी। दिल्ली पुलिस में स्पेशल कमिश्नर (विजिलेंस) पी. कामराज तिहाड़ जेल के नए डीजी होंगे। यह जानकारी दिल्ली पुलिस और दिल्ली सरकार के टॉप आधिकारिक सूत्रों ने दी है। सूत्रों के मुताबिक, सप्ताह के अंत तक इन दोनों अफसरों के बारे में तैनाती के नए आदेश आ जाएंगे। 31 जुलाई को दिल्ली पुलिस को बी. एस. बस्सी के रूप में नए कमिश्नर मिल जाएंगे। वह अभी तक दिल्ली पुलिस में नंबर-2 यानी स्पेशल कमिश्नर (प्रशासन) हैं। सूत्रों ने बताया कि बस्सी के कमिश्नर बनने के बाद यह पद खाली हो जाएगा। उनके बाद फिर इस पायदान पर स्पेशल कमिश्नर (प्रशासन) की अहम जिम्मेदारी 1978 बैच की आईपीएस विमला मेहरा संभालेंगी। विमला मेहरा अगस्त 2012 में तिहाड़ जेल की डीजी बनी थीं। इससे पहले वह दिल्ली पुलिस में ही स्पेशल कमिश्नर (सिक्यूरिटी) थी। वह तिहाड़ जेल में मौजूदा कमिश्नर नीरज कुमार की जगह गई थीं। तिहाड़ जेल में रहते हुए उन्होंने कई काम किए। कैदियों के लिए सेमी-ओपन जेल खोलने की योजना को उन्होंने ही अमलीजामा पहनाया। नीरज कुमार 31 जुलाई को रिटायर हो रहे हैं। सूत्रों का कहना है कि पिछले साल 16 दिसंबर को साउथ दिल्ली में चलती बस में फिजियोथेरपी की स्टूडेंट के साथ गैंग रेप की वारदात हुई थी। इसके बाद दिल्ली में किसी महिला को पुलिस कमिश्नर बनाने की मांग ने जोर पकड़ा था। अब सूत्रों का कहना है कि भले ही कमिश्नर कोई महिला न बन पाई हों, मगर फिर भी महिला के दिल्ली पुलिस में नंबर-2 होने से दिल्ली में महिलाओं की सुरक्षा के लिए और अधिक काम हो सकेगा। इससे पहले तिहाड़ जेल में डीजी के पद पर महिला के तौर पर केवल किरण बेदी ही रही थीं।

The gunmen concealed themselves in hills above checkpoints in Michoacan state, a western area tormented by drug cartels, and blocked at least four sections of highway before swooping on their targets, wielding grenades. "So far, we have two federal policemen killed, 20 presumed criminals shot dead and another 15 people under arrest," the interior ministry's national security council said in a statement. The attackers were equipped with high-powered rifles and grenades when they struck in the troubled Tierra Caliente region, a hot spot for gang violence, the council added, without stating how many police or gunmen had been wounded. In May, Mexico's government promised to keep thousands of troops in Michoacan, which has 4.3 million citizens, until peace is restored. Interior minister Miguel Angel Osorio Chong at the time held a meeting of the national security team in the state capital Morelia with local officials, aimed at tackling a crime wave that led some towns to start vigilante groups. Officials said 4,000 soldiers and marines and 1,000 federal police were deployed. Osorio Chong also said the forces would leave once security conditions have improved and the state government can hold its own. Michoacan was the first state to see troops when former president Felipe Calderon decided to deploy tens of thousands of soldiers across the country to crack down on drug cartels in 2006. But gang violence surged throughout Mexico, leaving 70,000 people in its wake when Calderon left office in December, and a powerful new cartel, the Knights Templar, emerged in Michoacan. Osorio Chong has insisted that the strategy ordered by current President Enrique Pena Nieto will be different than his predecessor's, with a single command, close coordination between various authorities, greater use of intelligence assets, and an economic development program. Pena Nieto took office in December vowing to switch the focus toward reducing the level of violence. He has since launched a crime prevention program but he says troops will stay until the murder rate declines. Fed up with crime, vigilantes have appeared in recent months and clashed with the Knights Templar cartel, notably in Tierra Caliente. In classic small-heeled pumps, fitted narrow trousers, a colourful scarf, plain shirt, long hair, tall frame and a confident stride, Police Inspector Shalini Sharma--Extradition Cell, of Mumbai’s Crime Investigative Unit (CIU)—carries herself like one of Charlie’s Angels. CIU officers don’t wear uniforms. She is as alert as she is friendly—interrogating gangsters, terrorists, paedophiles and the like, for a living. Two months ago, the Crime Branch arrested Theva Satish Kumar, of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), based on an Interpol alert issued by the Sri Lankan government. What was Shalini’s role? “We verified the intelligence received, and alerted police stations, immigration and other teams.” Following an arrest, the person is presented in court and taken into custody for questioning. “The interrogation went on for 24 hours! He was lying and I knew it. The stamp on his passport was fake.” As per media reports, Kumar first said he came by air, but later revealed he arrived via sea. He would have been caught, boarding a flight from Sri Lanka. “I don’t use third degree. I make them speak-up without breaking laws. Criminals don’t expect decency of this sort, so at first, they think I will go soft on them. But, with 23 years of experience, I know how to make people comfortable, I know how to make them talk,” is her unique approach. From Scotland Yard to Interpol No wonder she was chosen for a $10,000 scholarship to learn Hostage Negotiation and Crisis Management from Scotland Yard. “In 2008, we didn’t have negotiators to look into lacunae during terror attacks. So the Rotary Club and Mumbai Police took the initiative. 12 candidates, initially selected based on age and police experience, were narrowed to six, three ,and finally one.” In her brief tenure as chief counsellor, Shalini thwarted a suicide attempt. “In interviews, Rotary gauged our international exposure and ability to handle sensitive matters. Officers tested our knowledge, language, and presentation skills. Working in the Extradition Cell since 2004 helped, as I was in regular contact with consulates. Confidence and interest matter too.” Her training lasted two weeks. She acquainted herself with the British Transport Police, London Police and New Scotland Yard Police, London, and wanted other officers to be trained too. “Crisis management isn’t a one-person job. I convinced my seniors to get two officers from Scotland Yard to Mumbai. Eventually, 17 officers were trained. With the remaining scholarship money, I got permission to familiarise myself with Interpol in Lyon, France.”

Carry an extra battery and pepper spray Communicability is important at all times, especially if you’re travelling in remote areas or at odd hours. Always keep your mobile handy and carry an extra battery. There is no harm in carrying pepper spray too. Note down taxi and auto numbers, when travelling alone at night. Shout!!! You may have objects to defend yourself and might know everything, but nothing beats presence of mind.
