Setting a rare example of honesty, Assistant Sub-Inspector BN Kadam, attached to the Virar police station, deposited Rs5 lakh in cash, which he found on Achole Road on Friday afternoon, at the Nalasopara police station. Appreciating his honesty, the Superintendent of Police (Thane Rural) has announced to felicitate Kadam for his exemplary act.

Speaking to DNA, Nalasopara police station Senior Inspector Shriram Koregaonkar said that they were shocked when Kadam approached them with Rs5 lakh cash. On Friday afternoon, Kadam was going to the Tahsildar office on his bike for some personal work. When he was passing through Achole Road, he saw a paper bundle drop from the pocket of an unknown motorcyclist going ahead of him. Unaware that something has fallen off his pocket, the rider went ahead. Kadam shouted to draw his attention but in vain. Kadam then stopped his bike and inspected the bundle. He was shocked to see cash amounting to Rs5 lakh in it. He then kept the money safely and gave the motorcyclist a chase. On failing to locate him, Kadam decided to hand the money over to the police. “He came to us and deposited the money. We are proud that Kadam has set this rare example of honesty for our staff,” said Koregaonkar.

पणजी : गोवा के पुलिस महानिदेशक आदित्य आर्य कर्नाटक के एक पर्यटन स्थल पर अपने सरकारी वाहन से जाने और इस बारे में गोवा प्रशासन को जानकारी नहीं देने के चलते जांच के दायरे में आ गए हैं। गोवा के मुख्य सचिव संजय श्रीवास्तव ने पिछले 16 अक्तूबर को आर्य के कर्नाटक के गोकर्णा की यात्रा पर अपने सरकारी वाहन से जाने के मामले में उनके खिलाफ जांच शुरू की है। सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता आइरिस रोड्रिग्ज की ओर से पणजी थाने में आर्य के खिलाफ दर्ज कराई गई प्राथमिकी के आधार पर यह जांच शुरू की गई है।

शिकायतकर्ता ने कहा कि पुलिस अधिकारी का यह कृत्य धोखाधड़ी है जिसके लिए भारतीय दंड संहिता की धारा 420 के तहत सजा का प्रावधान है। रोड्रिग्ज ने आर्य पर आरोप लगाया कि उन्होंने अपने पद का दुरूपयोग किया है और राज्य प्रशासन के साथ धोखाधड़ी की है। आर्य ने हालांकि इस बात को स्वीकार किया है कि वे गोकर्णा गए लेकिन उन्होंने दावा किया कि वे किसी काम से वहां गए थे और अपने सरकारी वाहन से राज्य से बाहर जाने से पहले उन्होंने इसके लिए राज्य सरकार से मौखिक अनुमति ले ली थी।

U.S. Embassy partners with Haryana Police Academy for antiterrorism training The United States Department of State, in partnership with the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), on July 29 concluded a two-week seminar titled "Investigative Information Management." The session was conducted by instructors from the Department of State's Antiterrorism Assistance (ATA) program and hosted by the Haryana Police Academy in Madhuban, Karnal. The interactive workshop trained mid-level police officials from across India in on-the-ground investigative analysis techniques that can be utilized to detect, deter, and prevent terrorism. More than 15 Indian law enforcement officials from federal and state agencies were selected to participate in the program by the MHA's Bureau of Police Research and Development.

Since 1995, the Department of State's Bureau of Diplomatic Security has organized 80 police training courses for over 1500 Indian law enforcement professionals under the ATA program. This month's training seminar focused on the use of innovative management techniques to enhance the effectiveness of police investigations. After the training concluded, U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Ambassador Peter Burleigh remarked: "From high-level discussions in the recent U.S.-India Homeland Security and Strategic Dialogues through follow on actions such as this course and other cooperative efforts, the people and Government of the United States continue to fulfill our pledge to work together with India against terrorism. Terrorism is a crime that targets innocents and affects us all, and the United States and India have significantly expanded our counterterror information sharing and cooperation across the board. We will continue to work together, tirelessly, until that threat has been eliminated."

A sum of Rs. 10 lacs will be granted to the dependents of a deceased employee who die in action and Rs. 5 lacs shall be given to those who sustain grievous injuries in similar situations. Further the families of such deceased officials shall be paid family pension equal to the last pay drawn. Henceforth the newly promoted DSP shall be paid uniform allowance from the date of promotion instead of the date of approval of their appointment as DSP by Haryana Public Service. A sum of Rs. 47,14,000/- has been disbursed to the families of deceased police personnel as death relief. Retirement benefits of Rs. 29,82,000/- have been disbursed to the retirees of Haryana Police personnel. Scholarships to the tune of Rs. 55,33,900/- have been disbursed to 3130 wards of Police personnel during the year 2009-2010. The powers of sanctioning GPF/NRA have been delegated to DGP by Government. Ch. Devi Lal Police Training and Research Centre has been established at Bhondsi (Gurgaon). Janta personal accidental policy has been introduced for the welfare of Police personnel in Haryana and Rs. 43 lacs have been given to the victims so far. 218 dependents of deceased Police personnel have been given Monthly Financial Assistance during the year 2009-10. New Police Lines at Panchkula, Panipat, Yamunanagar and Telecommunication are completed. Madhuban has been declared as Sports District. Government have granted sanction of House Rent Allowance to the Police jawans while posted in Reserves and transfer in Home Range has been been permitted. Conveyance Allowance to all ORs and NGOs of Haryana Police personnel has been increased as ORs Rs. 120/-, ASI Rs. 300/-, SI Rs. 360/- and Inspr. Rs 450/-. Rs. 54,00,000/- lacs sanctioned as Ex-Gratia Grant to the family of deceased employee for the year 2009-10.
