Mumbai Police:
Mumbai police probing Wednesday midnight brawl involving Saif Ali Khan on Friday said his counter complaint against South African businessman Iqbal Sharma does not carry "much weight" as the Bollywood actor had not suffered any injury.
Khan, according to investigators, has also not submitted any medical report to corroborate his claim that he too got injured during the fracas while acting in self-defence after being first hit by Sharma.
"While recording his statement, Saif repeatedly claimed that Sharma was the first to hit him. But he also mentioned he reacted to defend himself. That is enough for us to say he had punched Sharma," said an investigating officer at Colaba police station.
"Moreover, Saif's complaint against Sharma does not hold much weight as he had no injuries," the officer added.
The police have recorded the statement of witnesses at the Taj Mahal hotel who were either present during the brawl at 'Wasabi' restaurant or had rushed to the spot on hearing the commotion.
"We have recorded the statement of Taj's staff," said Vinod Sawant, senior inspector at the police station but refused to divulge the contents.
Sources said the hotel management has been asked to make available footage from CCTV cameras at the lobby, corridor and entrance to see if they had captured any shots of the fight.
Investigators, who had pinned their hopes on CCTV footage for evidence against Khan, were left disappointed when they were told yesterday that there were no video cameras installed in the area where the brawl had taken place.
Meanwhile, sources said Sharma has left for South Africa for some work after obtaining permission from the police.
Khan along with his two friends was on Wednesday arrested and released by police on bail after being charged with assaulting Indian origin South African national Sharma, who protested the noisy chatter of the actor and his friends at the Japanese restaurant.
The 41-year-old actor and his two friends Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi had been booked under sections 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intent) of IPC.

KOCHI: The Kerala Police, investigating the killing of two Indian fishermen by Italian guards aboard the vessel Enrica Lexie, are expected to continue their probe by visiting the Italian vessel after two Italian defence officials arrive Saturday, said a police official.
Speaking to reporters here Friday, Kochi city police commissioner M R Ajith Kumar, who is heading the probe team said it is now possible to go on to the ship to continue the probe.
"Yesterday (Thursday), the Italian team had gotten permission from the court at Kollam which extended the police custody of the two Italian marines to get two of their officials to be with the Kerala police probe team. Two Italian defence officials are arriving here tomorrow from Italy. After they arrive, we will go on to the ship," said Kumar.
The vessel, which was berthed in the outer sea at Kochi, was brought to the dock at the Cochin Port Trust on Friday morning and ballistic experts of Kerala Police also had arrived but with the Italian team arriving only by Saturday, the inspection and probe would now take place only then.
The investigating team has now got a search warrant to go aboard the vessel to make a detailed investigation by taking into possession the weapon used by the Italian guards.
The two Italian marines, Latorre Massimillano and Salvatore Girone -- the security officials on board the Enrica Lexie, have been arrested for shooting dead two Indian fishermen Feb 15 after mistaking them to be pirates. They are currently lodged at the CISF guest house here.
Delhi Police:
A day after the Supreme Court ordered registration of criminal cases against police personnel who used excessive force and Ramdev supporters who resorted to violence during the Ramlila Maidan crackdown last year, Delhi Police has said it will seek legal opinion on whether it should include fresh criminal culpability in the existing FIRs or register new ones.
The police will also review the CCTV footage as well as 11 “unedited” CDs submitted by television channels to the Supreme Court, and take action accordingly.
Sources said the Delhi Police has already identified people who indulged in violence and rioting. The role of each will be examined, statement recorded and action taken. Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Dharmendra Kumar said, “We have been given three months to file a chargesheet in the court of the magistrate concerned. We will examine the entire footage once again to fix individual responsibility.”
After the crackdown on the night of June 5 last year, Delhi Police registered cases relating to rioting, preventing public servants from discharging duties, and damaging public property. The investigation was handed over to Inspector Jogendra Prasad. The accused were identified as Ravi Naudiyal (23), Arun Singh Rana (25), Yogendra Arya (30), Sarvamitra (26), Prem (45), Surinder Singh (22), Bhagirath (32), Hari Om (32), Ram Naresh (33), and Ravindra (40).
Police said after the death of one of Ramdev’s followers, Rajbala, on September 26 last year, Section 304(a) (causing death due to negligence) was added to the existing FIR. In all, seven cases were registered.
In a fourth affidavit to the Supreme Court, Delhi Police Commissioner B K Gupta stated: “The medical record establishes that Rajbala was examined thrice by three different doctors during the first nine hours after her admission. She was conscious and oriented, and at no stage did she mention assault with lathis by policemen. She, instead, reiterated on all the three occasions that she was injured during the stampede.”
“Apart from a very short period of time when senior officers of the Delhi Police attempted to serve the order on Baba Ramdev, at no point of time did it (police) gain access to the stage. As is apparent from the viewing of the video footage, Baba Ramdev exhorted his followers... to ensure that personnel of the Delhi Police do not come to the stage to arrest him. On account of this, a large number of people clambered onto the stage,” he said.
“Our government counsellors are examining the SC order on the future course of action,” said Kumar.
Delhi Police:
MP Police: Bhopal:
