MUMBAI/ NAGPUR: The stolen handbag of Satvasheela Chavan, wife of chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, was retrieved by the government railway police (GRP) with the arrest of one person. Satvasheela was travelling in the Maharashtra Express when her handbag containing Rs 40,000 in cash, a cellphone and a debit card was stolen near Manmad on July 9. GRP officials have also detained one more person in the case and are probing his role.
Satvasheela's stolen handset provided important leads to the police. "We used latest electronic surveillance including cell site location tracing. All calls made from the handset in the period were scanned. Cellphone tracking was also done," superintendent of police (Nagpur railway) Yashasvi Yadav told TOI. "The IMEI technology was also used simultaneously to trace the stolen handset," he said.
Yadav, a tech-savvy officer and recipient of international award,
said that local crime branch team under him was put on the job after the sensational theft came to the fore.
The phone had been switched off and Satvasheela's Sim card had been replaced with a new one. "We are questioning the person in whose name the new Sim card was registered. He has been detained and we are probing the extent of his involvement," an official said. Most of the stolen valuables have been recovered.
GRP officials added that the prime accused appears to be a hardened criminal. "Items stolen from other passengers like laptops, cellphones and other valuables were also recovered. Unsolved past cases will be detected with this arrest," the official said.
"Offences on the railways are usually difficult to detect as long distances are involved and criminals don't have a fixed residence. The case was a big challenge to us," said Yadav, whose LCB team solved the theft in less than a week.
Satvasheela had boarded the Kolhapur-Gondia Maharashtra Express from Karad to visit a medical college in Jalgaon. She was travelling in one of the air-conditioned two-tier coaches. Two police guards were accompanying her. Nobody realised that her handbag was stolen till the train reached Manmad in Nashik district. Sources said when the cops dialled Satvasheela's stolen phone, someone answered the call but later switched it off.
The LCB team is likely to reach Nagpur in Geetanjali Express with the accused. It was the first major detection by railway police after IIT alumni Yadav took over the reigns of the Nagpur railway police recently and revived the dormant LCB unit injecting fresh lease of life into it.

Mumbai Police : Mumbai blasts: Faiz's neighbourhood upset after questioning, death
In protest of the death of Faiz Usmani, who died following his interrogation by the Maharashtra ATS in connection with the July 13 serial blasts, residents shut all the shops and establishments in the Shivaji Nagar-Govandi area yesterday.
The situation took a turn for the worse as Faiz's family members alleged that he died because he was tortured in police custody.
For their part, the police, fearing a backlash in the Muslim-dominated locality on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat yesterday, deployed extra forces in the suburb.
Speaking to media persons outside Shivaji Nagar police station yesterday, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Rajnish Seth said, "We have deployed extra police in this area because it is minority-dominated.
We fear that something serious may happen, keeping in mind the festival of Shab-e-Barat. I have come here to keep tabs on the situation."
Faiz, the brother of 2008 Gujarat blast suspect Afzal Usmani currently behind bars, lives in the same neighbourhood as that of Mohammad Ali and Dr Salman Farsi accused in the 2006 Malegaon blasts case. He died at 1.30 am on Sunday at Sion hospital, following interrogation by cops.
'Pressurised'
Faiz was picked up by the Chembur unit of the Crime Branch for questioning in the afternoon and was admitted to Sion hospital in the evening after he allegedly fell sick.
Faiz's son Azeem said, "My father was picked up for interrogation by cops and was pressurised, even though he wasn't involved in any criminal activity. They are to blame for this."
He added, "He was at his teashop in Govandi at 3 pm on Saturday, when a Crime Branch official arrived and picked him up.
An hour later, a police official informed us over the phone that due to a chest problem, my father had to be admitted to Sion hospital. When we reached the hospital, my father was in the ICU. Then he was shifted to the general ward, and later to the ventilator, before he was declared dead."
However, spokesperson of the Mumbai Police, DCP Nisar Tamboli, rubbished the allegations. He said that a CID team, currently in Pune, would conduct an inquiry into Faiz's death. "Allegations by his family members are baseless," he said.
His body was sent to JJ Hospital for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of death. Faiz is survived by his wife, a daughter, and five sons. His relatives and neighbours said that he was already suffering from hypertension and had not taken his medicines for the last three-four days.
Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi, MLA of the locality, who visited the hospital, said, "I will meet the home minister and the chief minister. We all want that the July 13 blasts culprits to be arrested and hanged. But the police cannot harass a common man to such an extent that he bursts a vein because of all the tension."
Doctors say
According to sources in Sion hospital, Faiz died due to brain haemorrhage, usually seen when a person is exposed to some kind of a shock.
"Usmani died at 1.30 am while he was under treatment for hemi-paresis and hypertension in the Lokmanya Tilak Hospital," doctors said. A preliminary investigation showed no bodily injuries, they added.
Dr Sandhya Kamat, the hospital's dean, said, "He was brought to the hospital at around 5:30-6:00 pm on Saturday evening.
In the CT scans, our doctors observed massive bleeding in his brain region. However, only post mortem reports will be able to ascertain the cause of death."
Autopsy report
The report of Faiz Usmani's postmortem, conducted by a team of forensic doctors at JJ hospital, reveals that there were no physical injuries to the body.
However, there was an intra-cerebral haemorrhage in the brain region, owing to the rupture of the cerebral artery. The doctors have preserved the brain matter for neuro-hystopathology.

The police said he was suffering from hypertension at the time of death but hospital doctors said the exact cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem. But Usmani’s family members strongly denied that he was suffering from any disease.
They alleged that the police had tortured him, which led to his death.
Dr Bashar, a neighbour of Usmani, said the police had grabbed him by the neck when they took him on Saturday. “Their torture must have cost him his life,” he said.
Usmani was questioned for about 20 minutes when he complained to giddiness, an officer said. He was taken to Shatabdi Hospital and then to Sion hospital when his condition did not improve. He died around 1am, he said.
Several doctors, however, find it hard to believe that a 35-year-old would die of hypertension. Some say it would be the rarest of rare case of natural death if he did die of the disease.
The police termed the family’s allegations false. “The doctors have said his body had no injury marks,” Nisar Tamboli, DCP (detection), said. “He had hypertension and was on medication.
Since he did not take his medicines for the past two-three days, he might have suffered a stroke.” The officer said that the state CID would look into the matter and “its investigation would bring the real picture out”.
On Sunday evening, the agency questioned the crime branch’s Chembur unit officers, who had gone to Usmani’s home in Govandi, for almost two hours.

Mumbai Police: mumbai blast: मुंबई ब्लास्ट में पुलिस पूछताछ के बाद संदिग्ध आरोपी की मौत
मुंबई। मुंबई धमाकों में एक संदिग्ध से पुलिस ने पूछताछ तो की लेकिन पूछताछ के बाद संदिग्ध की हालत बिगड गई और अस्पताल में उसकी मौत हो गई।
पुलिस ने मुंबई हमलों में एक संदिग्ध फैज को शनिवार को पूछताछ के लिए बुलाया। पूछताछ के बाद सैफ की हालत बिगडने लगी। उसे अस्पताल ले जाया गया। जहां उसकी मौत हो गई। गौरतलब है कि फैज अहमदाबाद धमाकों के आरोपी अफजल का भाई है। अफजल आईएम का सदस्य है। सैफ के परिजनों ने पुलिस पर प्रताडना के आरोप लगाए हैं। चिकित्सकों का कहना है कि सैफ के शरीर पर चोट को कोई निशान नहीं है। अभी सैफ की पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट आना शेष है।

एटीएस प्रमुख ने कहा कि जो सीसीटीवी फुटेज मिले हैं वे धुंधले हैं और जांचकर्ता एक या दो दिन के भीतर घटनास्थल पर मौजूद सीसीटीवी कैमरे से बेहतर तस्वीर प्राप्त कर लेंगे।

Maharastra Police: पुलिस की नाक के नीचे सीएम की बीबी का पर्स ट्रेन से पार
अपराधियों के हौसले इतने बुलंद हो गये है कि वह किसी के साथ भी घटना को अंजाम देने से नहीं कतराते। इसका सबसे बड़ा उदाहरण मुंबई में सामने आया है। मुंबई में चलती ट्रेन में लुटेरों ने मुख्यमंत्री पृथ्वीराज चव्हाण की पत्नी सत्वशीला के साथ लूटपाट की। लुटेरों ने उनका पर्स और मोबाइल लूट लिया। फिलहाल इस मामले में कोई मुकदमा पंजीकृत नहीं कराया गया है।
प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार दुस्साहस पूर्ण यह वारदात महराष्ट्र एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन में हुई। लुटेरों ने घटना को अंजाम मनमाड के पास दिया। सूत्रों से प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री पृथ्वीराज चव्हाण की पत्नी सत्वशीला उत्तरी महाराष्ट्र के जलगांच के एक मेडिकल कालेज का दौरा करने के बाद शनिवार को महाराष्ट्र एक्सप्रेस से मुंबई वापस लौट रही थी।
वह एसी 2 में सफर कर रही थी। मनमाड पहुंचने से पहले कुछ अज्ञात बदमाश उनके कम्पार्टमेंट में आये और उनके साथ हाथापाई पर उतारु हो गये। देखते ही देखते लुटेरों ने उनको सीट पर ही धक्का दे दिया और उनका पर्स तथा मोबाइल लूटकर फरार हो गये। सत्वशीला की मानें तो उनके पर्स में 40 हजार रुपये नगद और कुछ जरुरी कागजात थे। खबर लिखे जाने तक इस मामले में अभी तक मुकदमा दर्ज नहीं किया गया है और ना ही काई शिकायत आई है।

वह एसी 2 में सफर कर रही थी। मनमाड पहुंचने से पहले कुछ अज्ञात बदमाश उनके कम्पार्टमेंट में आये और उनके साथ हाथापाई पर उतारु हो गये। देखते ही देखते लुटेरों ने उनको सीट पर ही धक्का दे दिया और उनका पर्स तथा मोबाइल लूटकर फरार हो गये। सत्वशीला की मानें तो उनके पर्स में 40 हजार रुपये नगद और कुछ जरुरी कागजात थे। खबर लिखे जाने तक इस मामले में अभी तक मुकदमा दर्ज नहीं किया गया है और ना ही काई शिकायत आई है।

रायपुर.ऑनलाइन सर्वे कंपनी का जाल बिछाने वाली सिंगापुर की कंपनी स्पीक एशिया के खिलाफ पहली बार राजधानी पुलिस एफआईआर करने की तैयारी कर रही है। कंपनी के खिलाफ कई शिकायतों के बाद भी जांच शुरू नहीं होने की वजह से आईजी मुकेश गुप्ता ने अफसरों को कड़ी फटकार लगाई। उनके कड़े निर्देश के बाद ही एसएसपी दीपांशु काबरा ने जांच का जिम्मा सीएसपी आजाद चौक नीतू कंवल को सौंपा है।
सीएसपी ने सोमवार से कंपनी के खिलाफ मिली शिकायतों का अध्ययन करना शुरू कर दिया है। अब तक विशेष अनुसंधान सेल और सिविल लाइन थाने में लोगों की ओर से दी गई शिकायतों की प्रति भी उनके कार्यालय पहुंचा दी गई है। पुलिस शिकायत करने वाले लोगों की सूची तैयार कर रही है।
उन्हें बयान के लिए थाने बुलाया जाएगा। गौरतलब है कि स्पीक एशिया के ऑनलाइन फर्जीवाड़े की खबर को सबसे पहले दैनिक भास्कर में ही प्रकाशित हुई थी। एसएसपी श्री काबरा का कहना है कि इस पूरे मामले में पुलिस तथ्यों को जुटा रही है। शिकायतकर्ताओं को बुलाया जा रहा है।
अब तक बच रही थी पुलिस
स्पीक एशिया के खिलाफ किसी भी तरह की जांच के लिए अब तक पुलिस आनाकानी कर रही थी। कई लोगों की शिकायत के बाद भी पुलिस बार-बार यह कहकर मामले को टाल देती थी कि शिकायतकर्ताओं के पास पुख्ता दस्तावेज नहीं है।
आईजी के कड़े रुख के बाद ही अब मामले की छानबीन शुरू की गई है। पुलिस की लापरवाही का अंदाजा इसी बात से लगाया जा सकता है कि पिछले महीने के आखिरी रविवार को स्पीक एशिया के अधिकारियों ने बेखौफ होकर शहीद स्मारक भवन में निवेशकों के लिए सेमिनार का आयोजन किया।
निवेशकों के करोड़ों रुपए फंसने के बाद भी उन्हें फिर से निवेश करने के लिए रिझाया जा रहा था। पुलिस अधिकारियों ने एक मर्तबा भी कंपनी के अधिकारियों से पूछताछ की जरूरत नहीं समझी।
150 करोड़ डूब गए
स्पीक एशिया कंपनी में छत्तीसगढ़ के 50 हजार लोगों ने 150 करोड़ रुपए से भी ज्यादा का निवेश किया था। कंपनी ने 11 हजार रुपए दो और हर महीने चार हजार रुपए लो की स्कीम लांच की थी, जिससे उसने बाद में पल्ला झाड़ लिया। लोगों ने बिना किसी दस्तावेजों के अनधिकृत एजेंटों के माध्यम से करोड़ों रुपए निवेश कर दिए।
अब न इन एजेंटों का पता है और न ही लोगों के पैसे वापस करने कंपनी सामने आ रही है। कंपनी का साफ कहना है कि 11 हजार रुपए की राशि ऑनलाइन बिजनेस शुरू करने से पहले ट्रेनिंग देने के लिए ली गई थी, जिसे बाद में प्रशिक्षुओं को 4 हजार रुपए प्रतिमाह वेतन के रूप में वापस किए गए।

Delhi Police: सुप्रीम कोर्म की दिल्ली सरकार को फटकार, रामलीला मैदान में सोते लोगों पर क्यों हुई कार्रवाई
दिल्ली के रामलीला मैदान में कालेधन के खिलाफ धरने में योगगुरु बाबा रामदेव तथा उनके समर्थकों पर आधी रात को किए गए लाठी चार्ज और आंसूगैस के इस्तेमाल पर सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने फिर दिल्ली पुलिस से जवाब मांगा है।
कोर्ट ने कहा कि पुलिस ने लाठीचार्ज से इनकार किया है लेकिन चित्रों से पता चलता है कि पुलिस उपायुक्त की मौजूदगी में पुलिस यह कार्रवाई कर रही है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि पुलिस बताए आधी रात को सोते हुए लोगों पर ऐसी सख्त कार्रवाई करने की क्या जरूरत पड़ गई थीं।
सुनवाई के दौरान स्वामी रामदेव की तरफ से पेश वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता राम जेठमलानी ने अनुरोध किया कि इस मामले में गृहमंत्री पी. चिदंबरम से स्पष्टीकरण मांगा जाना चाहिए क्योंकि उनके निर्देश पर ही पुलिस ने यह कार्रवाई की है। लेकिन जस्टिस बी.एस. चौहान और स्वतंतर कुमार की पीठ ने कहा कि 4 जून की घटना के बारे में दिल्ली पुलिस की प्रतिक्रिया मिल जाने के बाद ही इस आग्रह पर विचार होगा। पीठ मामले की अगली सुनवाई 25 जुलाई को करेगी। कोर्ट ने कहा कि पुलिस धरनास्थल में लगे सीसीटीवी कैमरों की डीवीडी भी तैयार रखे। जरूरत पड़ने पर उन्हें मीडिया के फुटेज से मिलाया जा सकता है।
