PATNA: The Patna High Court (HC) on Friday gave specific direction to the state government to produce before it the list of finally selected 5,676 candidates who are to be appointed as constables soon. A single bench presided by Justice Jaya Nandan Singh on Friday issued the directive after the state government submitted two new and an old merit list of about 1,100 job aspirants for the post of constables on the basis of court directive issued on Thursday.

The order was passed on a set of writ petitions of the job aspirants for the post of constable when their lawyers Rajendra Prasad Singh and others submitted that the number of posts of constables reserved for homeguards and other categories were very high. Furthermore, many job aspirants who were selected from the reserved category posts in the list of 5,676 for appointment have not scored even the cut off marks for the job on the basis of written examinations, the counsel submitted. The petitioner's counsel submitted that due to selection of the candidates not scoring the cut off marks at the written test, the career of the petitioners, who had scored higher marks exceeding the cut off marks had been jeopardized. The case will again be heard on January 18.

JABALPUR: In major big relief to more than 16,000 home guards in the state, MP High Court here on Friday directed the state government to give minimum or a basic pay of a police constable to them since January this year. A single bench comprising Justice Rajendra Menon also asked the state to provide them work throughout the year after taking into account their fitness level in accordance to the law, the home guard's counsel Mrigendra Singh told TOI.

Furthermore, the court said if required the state should constitute a high level committee or commission to look into their working setup and lay down the scheme, rules, regulations and statuary rules for their service condition, he added. Also, HC said that the home guards basic pay revision should be done akin to the police department from time to time till a separate set of rules are worked out for them. The HC also asked the state to take note of the Human Rights Commission's recommendation in connection with home guards. The court direction came while allowing a clutch of petitions filed by Home Guards Sanik Avam Pariwar Kalyan Sangh and others stating that their call off (lay off) period of four months in a year was rendering them jobless. In their plea, the homeguards said that they were living in an abject poverty as they were getting a paltry honorarium.

PANAJI: Director general of police Aditya Arya said that the state police would continue raiding nightclubs along the beach belt in a bid to crack down on prostitution in Goa.

Stating that people should help the police serve them better, Arya spoke to mediapersons on the sidelines of home guard rising day on Tuesday. He said, "We will raid night clubs, one by one, as and when the police receive information." On Monday, the DGP along with the crime branch raided Club Virgin, Calangute, and rescued14 girls who were allegedly forced into the prostitution under the pretext of being provided jobs. Police also arrested nine persons in the raid.

जालंधर : निर्वाचन आयोग ने पंजाब में होने वाले आगामी विधानसभा चुनाव के मद्देनजर राज्य में स्वतंत्र एवं निष्पक्ष मतदान सुनिश्चित करने के लिए सभी निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में एक..एक पुलिस पर्यवेक्षक नियुक्त करने का फैसला किया है। जालंधर के जिलाधिकारी एवं जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी प्रियांक भारती ने कहा कि भारत निर्वाचन आयोग ने इस बार पंजाब में होने वाले विधानसभा चुनावों के सिलसिले में राज्य के सभी विधानसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में एक-एक पुलिस पर्यवेक्षक नियुक्त करने का फैसला किया है।

उन्होंने कहा कि निर्वाचन आयोग ने राज्य में स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष चुनाव कराने के लिए पुलिस पर्यवेक्षक नियुक्त करने का फैसला किया है। ये पर्यवेक्षक उम्मीदवारों और पुलिस कर्मियों की गतिविधियों पर नजर रखेंगे। भारती ने यह भी कहा कि चुनाव के दौरान खर्चे पर भी खास नजर रखी जाएगी । बैंकों से एक लाख रूपये से अधिक की राशि निकालने वालों पर भी नजर रखी जाएगी ताकि यह पता चल सके कि इन पैसों का इस्तेमाल कहां हो रहा है। जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी ने यह भी कहा कि सभी विधानसभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों के मतों की गिनती जिला स्तर पर की जाएगी और सभी क्षेत्रों का अलग-अलग स्ट्रांग रूम होगा।

मुंबई. मुंबई पुलिस के एक कॉन्‍सटेबल ने उस सरकारी गाड़ी को, जिसका वह ड्राइवर था, ही सेक्‍स कारोबार का अड्डा बना दिया। अब पकड़े जाने पर उसे निलंबित कर दिया गया है। पी.एन. मोरे करतूत रंगे हाथ पकड़े जाने के बाद उसे यह सजा हुई। मुंबई पुलिस के मोटर ट्रांसपोर्ट डिपार्टमेंट में ड्राइवर मोरे ने मात्र 500 रुपये लेकर रात के वक्‍त एक जोड़े को अपनी सरकारी जीप 'मस्‍ती' करने के लिए दे दी। लेकिन उसी बीच वहां डीसीपी दौरे पर आ गए। उन्‍होंने पुलिस की गाड़ी खड़ी देखी तो तहकीकात की। उन्‍हें गाड़ी में आपत्तिजनक हालत में एक जोड़ा दिखा। जोड़े को तो जुर्माना वसूल कर छोड़ दिया गया, लेकिन मोरे को निलंबित कर दिया गया। घटना शिवाजी पार्क इलाके की है।

सूत्र बताते हैं कि मोरे ने जिस जीप को 'सेक्‍स कारोबार का अड्डा' बना दिया, वह सीनियर इंस्‍पेक्‍टर बाबूराव गाविथ को घर से लाने और घर छोड़ने के लिए है। गाविथ को घर छोड़ने के बाद मोरे नागपाड़ा स्थित उनके दफ्तर के बाहर जीप खड़ी कर दिया करता था। फिर, अगली सुबह वह उन्‍हें घर से लेने जाता था। बुधवार की रात उसने गाविथ को घर छोड़ने के बाद सियोन चला गया। वहां वह एक दोस्‍त के साथ खाना खाने वाला था। बाद में उसने 500 रुपये लेकर एक जोड़े को अपनी जीप में कुछ पल एकांत में बिताने की छूट दे दी। आधे घंटे बाद ही डीसीपी किशोर जाधव के पहुंचने से रंग में भंग पड़ गया।

कोलकाता: पश्चिम बंगाल के 24 परगना में पुलिस फायरिंग में दो लोगों की मौत हो गई, जबकि 16 लोग घायल हो गए. बताया जाता है कि बिजली चोरी करने वालों के खिलाफ एक अभियान के दौरान पुलिस और गांववालों के बीच हिंसक झड़प हो गई. हालांकि मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने कहा है कि फायरिंग के लिए स्‍थानीय लोग जिम्मेदार नहीं है. खबर के मुताबिक दक्षिण 24 परगना जिले में पुलिस भीड़ से भिड़ गई, जिसमें एक महिला और 14 साल की लड़की की मौत हो गई. इस घटना में सात-आठ पुलिसवालों को मिलाकर घायलों की तादाद 16 के आसपास है, जिन्हें कोलकाता नेशनल मेंडिकल कॉलेज और डायमंड हार्बर अस्पताल में दाखिल करवाया गया है.

बताया जाता है कि मंदिर बाजार इलाके मे बिजली चोरी की शिकायत पर बिजली विभाग के कर्मचारी अवैध कनेक्शन काटने गए थे कि तभी गांववालों से उनकी तकरार हो गई और देखते ही देखते मारपीट और पत्थरबाजी शुरू हो गई. भीड़ को काबू में करने के लिए पुलिस ने हवाई फायरिंग भी की. आरोप है कि दो लोगों की मौत पुलिस की फायरिंग में ही हुई. एक प्रत्‍यक्षदर्शी के मुताबिक, 'पुलिसवाले हमारे गांव में दाखिल हुए और किसी चेतावनी के बिना लाठी चार्ज शुरू कर दिया. कुछ ही देर में लोगों ने पथराव शुरू कर दिया. इसके बाद पुलिस की फायरिंग में दो लोगों की जान चली गई और कुछ लोग घायल हुए.' पुलिस का दावा है कि स्थानीय लोगों ने बमों से उन पर हमला किया था. इलाके में अब आरएएफ तैनात कर दी गई है. मामले की जांच के आदेश देते हुए मुख्यमंत्री ममता बनर्जी ने स्थानीय लोगों को इस घटना का जिम्मेदार मानने से इनकार किया है. ममता बनर्जी के मुताबिक, 'वो लोग (स्थानीय) इसके लिए जिम्मेदार नहीं है और अगर जांच के बाद इसमें पुलिसवालों या बिजली विभाग के कर्मचारियों का हाथ पाया गया तो उनके खिलाफ कड़ी कार्रवाई की जाएगी.'
