Police Cinema: Mumbai Police: 'सरफरोश' के एसीपी अजय राठौर का पता चला, दावा है DCP बी जी शेखर है वो...

This diarist is a fan of Aamir Khan's portrayal of ACP Ajay Rathod in his 1999 hit Sarfarosh. And now, DCP BG Shekhar of the Enforcement Wing of Mumbai Police, had revelaed to us that the film was based on his action-packed experiences and bust-ups with a gang of drug dealers who traded across the border. To prove his point, he will soon publish a book that spills the beans on the real story that inspired the film. Apparently, the characters in the film deliciously named Mirchi Seth, Sultan and Gulfam Hasan, were real people convicted by a court two years ago. Minor creative liberties were taken with the story - the drug dealers would smuggle in contraband by hiding them under packets of sweets, while in the film, red chillies made for a sweet substitute. The DCP claimed that the makers spent nearly a week with him in Bhusaval, where he was the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, to understand the story and its nuances. So will the real Mr Rathod please stand up?
