Maharastra Police: Mumbai Police: लालबाग के राजा गणपति के लाइव दर्शन कर सकेंगे मुंबई के पुलिसवाले

To avert any security lapse at Lalbaugcha Raja — one of the most visited pandals in the city — headquarters of the Mumbai police, traffic police and Kala Chowkie police station will view the proceedings at the spot in real-time. According to sources, a network of 18 close circuit

television (CCTV) cameras will be used to telecast the feed live.
“During the festivities, we will keep a 24x7 vigil in the city,” said Mumbai police commissioner Arup Patnaik.

“The network system is similar to the one that has been installed at the Maharashtra Police Academy in Nashik,” said a source adding that the CCTVs will ensure better patrolling at the mandal.

The network has been fed with several analytics. “The important ones are those that can identify suspicious movements such as a person hanging out in the area for long, repeatedly visiting the same spot or leaving any object behind.”

“In any such instance, an alarm will be raised by the system,” the source added.

Kaustubh Butala, chairman and managing director of Revmax group of companies, which has set up the network, said that the system would help police monitor the pandal in an effective manner.

“A control room has been set up at the pandal too and the feed will be constantly monitored,” he said. The special control room at the pandal would coordinate with the main police control room in giving security updates on a round-the-clock basis.

The police source said that installation of CCTV network was a challenging task. “The fact that the mandal has several lakh visitors had to kept in mind.”

“The installed CCTVs are high-quality ones. At a normal zoom, the cameras can cover up to 400m and if required they can cover an area up to 1.5km.”

“They can rotate up to 360 degrees and the quality of images even at night is good,” the source added.

Maharastra Police: Special branch of Mumbai police exempt from RTI, claims CID

Information about the overstay of Pakistani nationals working in Bollywood and television industry cannot be provided as Special Branch of Mumbai Police is exempted under the RTI act, says a reply from the police.

NGO 'National Counsel for Civil Liberties' had sought from Maharashtra Home Department details as to how many Pakistani film artists such as actors, directors, producers, singer, musicians and so on are working illegally in Mumbai.

The Home department had forwarded the RTI application to the Special Branch of CID. However, the Public Information Officer of CID refused to divulge information on the grounds that CID does not come under the ambit of RTI.

"The special branch of CID is looking into the matter of Pakistani nationals working in Mumbai. But the details regarding this cannot be given as the state government as per a notification dated October 11, 2005 has exempted CID from giving information under RTI," the reply by PIO and assistant commissioner of police (CID) Ambadas Gadade said.

Following this, V N Saxena, president of the NGO, has appealed before the appellate officer of CID and sought information.

"The information was sought first from the Home department which is not exempted from RTI. Pakistani nationals working illegally in Mumbai should be sent back immediately. This is necessary to help our own citizens who are struggling to get a job in the film industry," the appeal states.

Stating that the information sought is neither classified nor confidential in nature, Saxena said he would file a petition against the home department if the appellate officer too rejects his RTI application.

Maharastra Police: Maharashtra ATS:ISI funded Mumbai July 13 blasts: Report

New Delhi: Pakistan's notorious intelligence agency – Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) with active help from locals within India is said to have carried out the July 13 triple explosions in Mumbai, which killed 26 and left 126 injured, a newspaper claimed on Thursday.

The Maharashtra Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) has zeroed in on few inputs which suggest that ISI had financed the whole operation and sent the money through Saudi Arabia to Mumbai, where locals were hired to carry out the blasts, a newspaper report said.

The report also further stated that the explosive material was given to the sleeper modules in Mumbai by the ISI.

The case is being investigated by the Maharashtra (ATS) along with Mumbai Police, Maharashtra's Criminal Investigation Department (CID), National Investigation Agency (NIA) and others, with support from the local security agencies in several states. However, the progress has been slow.

According to the newspaper report, General Murad of the ISI along with the help of joint operation of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Indian Mujahideen (IM) modules planned and carried out the serial blasts.

The investigating agencies which have conducted many raids across the country are hoping that the information is credible and may help in cracking the case.

However, information on General Murad is not easily available. While, some reports suggest that one Col Murad used to train the LeT terrorists a decade ago and they do not know of any Gen Murad handling the anti-India operations.

Still the investigators believe that this could also be the combat name of some ISI man in charge of the operations in India.
