LUCKNOW: To keep a tab on rising crime and increasing passengers rush, Railways has reviewed security measures. For this, the senior officials of northern railway conducted a meeting with Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police. In order to check the increasing incidents of crime most of the important mails/express/passenger and local trains being escorted by RPF and GRP over the jurisdiction of northern railway will be monitored. While RPF, northern railway is escorting 143 trains, GRP is escorting 545 trains.
To curb the rising incidents of drugging, anti-drugging squads are also functional in divisions.
The major cause of these incidents is the encroachment by slum dwellers near the tracks, said an official release. Railways, between January and August, have arrested 55 people for 25 detected cases of robbery and 17 people against four detected cases of dacoity in northern railway zone. While in drugging cases, 30 arrests have been made against 19 detected cases and 167 people have been arrested for 144 detected cases of theft of passengers' belongings between January and July.

UP Police: Locknow: Jail Officials Transfered: हेल्थ घोटाले के डॉ.सचान का भूत फिर जागा, सीबीआई के चलते दो जेल अधिकारियों का तबादला
LUCKNOW: As the Central Bureau of Investigation probing the mystery behind the death of deputy chief medical officer Dr Yogendra Singh Sachan inside the Lucknow district jail gathers momentum, the state prison department ordered transfer of two senior officers of Lucknow Jail. The two officers have been under the scanner of the CBI in connection with the death of Dr Sachan.
The officers transferred include senior jail superintendent SHA Rizvi and jailor Bhimsen Mukund. While Rizvi was shifted to Basti Jail, his fellow senior superintendent of Aligarh Jail Sanjeev Tripathi was posted in his place at Lucknow. At Aligarh district jail, Tripathi has been replaced by RN Upadhya who was till now posted at Jail Directorate in Lucknow. Similarly, jailer of Lucknow Jail, Bhimsen Mukund has been transferred to district jail in Mainpuri in the same capacity and swapped places with RK Singh. tnn

INDORE: Indore police are all set to become part of a nationwide online crime data network system, which would enable the people to lodge online complain and know its status. The online service will be launched on December 15 and the system will go operational from April 1 next year.
"The accessibility to important data is possible because of crime and criminal tracking network system (CCTNS)," said DG (NCRB) N K Tripathi, adding that it is the flagship programme of the Union home ministry and more than Rs 2,000 crore is being spent on it. About 14,000 police stations all over the country, and 6,000 senior police officials would be connected through the dedicated online system. The focus is on sharing information by police stations on crime and criminals across the country. "By April 1, we hope to go online," said the DG.
The NCRB has signed MoUs with the state and Union territories for implementation of the project. The state designated agencies would then bring to the district level, through their police station network.
Multi-layered connectivity is the main feature, which would start from police station to district police office to police range to state police headquarters and, finally NCRB at the Union government-level. To ensure effective working among various agencies of them police department, the CCNTS would also be horizontally connected with other external agencies related to the home ministry.
"Another important feature is citizens interface for basic service like tracking motor vehicles, details of arm licences, lists of criminals, information on missing persons, etc," Tripathi said, adding that the system would be useful in tracking crime because of the connectivity at state and central level.
