JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday said that 9,598 appointments have been made in the state's police department in the last two years.
In a written reply to questions of Mehbooba Mufti (PDP), Ashok Khajuria (BJP), G M Saroori (Cong) and R S Sharma (NC) in the Assembly, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said 9035 appointments were made through Police Recruitment Board (PRB).
47 appointments were made under compassionate grounds, 47 on-the-spot recruitment and 10 appointments made on court probes, he said.
Since 1998, 658 eligible candidates were selected as constables in J&K Police during recruitments drive, he said.
