The high court has directed city police to arrest B Krishna Bhat, ex-chairman of Vishwa Bharati House Building Co-operative Society Limited, and produce him before the bench on August 25.
Petitioner B Srinivasa Rao alleged that the seniority list of members of the society had not been furnished to enable the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to undertake bulk allotment of sites.
A division bench headed by justice N Kumar was not satisfied with the endorsement given to the high court on action being taken on the police official who could not execute the non-bailable warrant issued to Bhat on January 14.
Thereafter, police commissioner BG Jyothi Prakash Mirji was summoned to the court. The commissioner assured the court that Bhat would be brought before the bench on the next date of hearing.
The bench directed that Bhat, ex-chairman of the society, be arrested and produced before the court on August 25. It also issued direction seeking reply from the police commissioner on why action should not be initiated against the police officer for failing to execute the bailable warrant.
Bhat appeared before the court on his own and sought for a recall of the warrant issued against him.
